VistaPrint scam, which I got caught up in a while back and thought I’d warn you off them. VistaPrint, for anyone who hasn’t heard of them, offer a printing service, so business cards, leaflets all types of printing. Their prices are ridiculously cheap, and as with all things what you pay for is what you get. The business cards I ordered were badly printed (barely read some of the fonts), the colour was off even though designed with CMKY and the card was flimsy and just felt dead cheap.
A few months after ordering I had a look at my bank account, only to find £9.95 had been coming out of my account every month. Did some research and tracked it back to VistaPrint who had apparently signed me up to a ‘rewards’ scheme (must have been very subtle when I signed up for me not to see it). It was then a pain to cancel, as there was no email, I had to call some random number hidden on their website and eventually got it canceled but no refund or money back. They got around £40 out of me and that’s only because I check my accounts often. So BE WARNED about this VistaPrint scam . If you’re looking for good quality check out moo.com who are a much better company and remember you always get what you pay for! I’ve now written a post about moo.com here.

VistaPrint is not as cheap as they appear to be. Their website is very misleading and their helpline is a sham. I am now very weary of VistaPrint and will no longer do business with them!

Bummer. I only thought to look them up on google after I bought business cards. I got a voucher for them inside my photography magazine so I’m going to write to the magazine and tell them it’s a shambles. I should have checked for contact details before ordering.

+1 for moo.com, I use those guys a lot. A recent client of mine insisted on getting his own cards done through VistaPrint. I told him – you only get what you pay for, but he refused to listen. Perhaps I’ll forward him this article.

I just opened up a voucher for Vistaprint discounts with a Lovefilm.com DVD. I have used Vistaprint before for logo t-shirts, pens and business cards without any problems. When I went to the website to checkout the discounts my Firefox web guard WOT flashed up red warnings about the site with numerous public warnings. I then checked google and ended up here.
What the hell is going on ?
Is the scam with a bogus company or Vistaprint themselves?

ONYX – yea I think it’s a sister company within Vistaprint – ‘VPRewards scheme’. You’re meant to recieve offers monthly but it’s basically a scam.
Half the problem is genuinely decent companies like LoveFilm endorse it for some reason, I guess if Lovefilm knew about this they wouldn’t associate themselves with Vistaprint.

Hmmmm, this is not gooood. I just ordered 1000 premium glossy cards off them – $86.73 AUD. They billed me twice (cc). I got onto some American bird when i rang, she didn’t want to talk about anything (was very sheepish), and now when i ring, the number is – dissconnected. I rang the number on their site, & it say’s i’ve rang out of office hours (U.S. time i’de say – im in Sydney Australia).
I’ve just rang my bank in case they try to draw any more money out that they shouldn’t. Lets see if my cards turn up, and what quality they are. Will keep you lot posted. Life is about living ——- & learing from our mistakes,,,,,,,,,,, we get wiser as we grow older, hehehe. It’s not the end of the world, but you can see it from their, lol. Cheers guys (& gals

Hi all
Personally, I’ve not found anything to complain about regarding Vista’s ‘products’. I’ve always got what I’ve wanted & I’ve been happy with end product & it’s prices. I’ve ordered numerous items from cards to t-shirts & magnets to posters with no problems.
Nonetheless, I do have a grudge about their incompetent customer service! I experienced a minor editorial issue with my website & when putting my simple question forward (on several occasions i.e. ten times!!!) as precisely as possible I was never satisfied with their response. They always came back with: “refer to our online solutions guide”!!!! Like that helped f*#@^ sqwat! After two months of email tag finally some bright spark in their so-called “customer service centre” emailed with a satisfactory, detailed answer. Unfortunately, it didn’t solve my issue but at least the person attempted to appease me.
I loath having to search endless windows before you find a “contact number – Call: 1-800-451-277″ only to find you need to make an international toll call to the States when I reside in New Zealand!! I did dial this number to be disappointed again as I reached an answering service informing me I’d “reached them outside their business hours…”. Pissy thing about that is the phone company to listen to a bloody answering machine!!!
I could go on forever but I know you all fully understand where I’m coming from. I’ll leave it at that & look forward to reading your never-ending complaints of the fabulous Vistaprint (NOT)! Needless to say, I’ll be ending my subscription with them asap!!
Cheers all & happy new year!

Very interesting reading! I hate this stupid “company”! The other day I wanted to buy some address labels and ended up on VistaPrint’s site. I thought it was quite shoddy and a bit strange – some of the English isn’t quite right ["rush delivery"?] – but what could be more innocuous than a stationary website? Plus the good price [£2.49 + p&p], the talk of 8 million customers, the leaflets we’ve received with every Amazon [et al] order over Christmas – all this made me think what the hell, I’ll just go for it.
But on checking out things got strange. I had to trawl through about 10 pages asking if I wanted t-shirts, mugs…etc etc. I became suspicious. What kind of website does that? But I ploughed on as quickly as I could. [I'm guessing it's somewhere there that they hide a ticked subscription box?] I filled in all my details, address, card, then I came to the quite frankly totally ridiculous order confirmation. Next time they make a scam they should try to be a bit more subtle. It was like: YOUR ORDER WITHOUT ADDRESS LABELS – £15[or so]. WITHOUT ADDRESS LABELS??? Um, wasn’t that what I was buying?? Underneath it said WITH ADDRESS LABELS – £25. There was no cancel button in sight. So now I knew something was very very wrong. But all my details had surely already sent through to them [they are all on separate pages].
Panicking I quickly left the website and Googled VistaPrint. “Scam” is a keyword associated with them so my fears were confirmed, even more so on reading all the tales of horror. “A bunch of Jamaicans who hawk your CC details” was the basic feeling. And yep, when I went back to my VP account, I had been signed up for their non-existent club. I’ve now reordered my card and become a VistaPrint h8r! Shame on Amazon for endorsing this scam. It’s nothing but cruel affiliate marketing. I dread to think how many people have been caught out by VP’s ubiquitous advertising. Believe me, all those Google ads cost a LOT of money. Don’t even bother with them! Go to Staples!

I’ve read all your comments with great interest. I have been a vistaprint customer for quite a few years and was always getting promotional emails from them. BTW I’ve never had any cause for complaint over quality, pricing etc. But I’ve noticed for the last year or so I haven’t received any emails from them and I’m wondering if they have been taken over by someone else? I haven’t had the need to order anything for a year or so, so cannot comment on their service for about the last 18 months. But now after reading all these negative reports, I will not be going back as its convinced me that the company most definitely has changed hands….Thanks guys!

I have used Vistaprint three times in the last fifteen months and have had no problems at all, on the contrary I find them VERY efficient and VERY high quality. Negative comments can come from either customers making mistakes on the site, competitors having a moan or the odd mistake that could be made by a large organisation like Vistaprint.
It is human nature to complain when there is a problem but not many people praise when they are treated well. There is a saying that bad news travels better than good news!!
I have nothing but praise for Vistaprint,

John – thanks for the comment, on the whole I’d agree with you about large companies and people loving to moan, however with the sheer number of complaints detailing the same occurrences it seems unlikely it is all the customers fault. Even the odd positive comment I’ve read about vistaprint mention the quality is sub-par which leads me to assume you’re an employee or very lucky!
I have dealt with a number of printing services (moo and goodprint for example) and have nothing but praise for them. But hey, people can make up their own minds.

Thank you all for your comments. I had ordered several items from VP and had been satisfied until this last month when there were two charges that I didn’t recognize. Upon checking the sites, they were noted as possible “scams”via VP. I called the numbers, they had no record of our email addresses but were willing to take the charges off my card. Our card company also said they would take the two 19.95 charges and correct the balance.
I am embarrased that I got this charge as I am very careful when ordering any on the internet. Please let others know and to be aware of such companys as Vistaprint.

Mar. 11, 2010 I ordered address labels from vistaprint which have not arrived, 27 days later. I just called the help line and “layton” said he can not track the order and is helping me out by sending another order at no extra charge. I thought ordering on line would be quicker than going to my regular print store… it did not seem to be cheap. I expect I’ll have to order locally as I can not wait another month to see if the second shipping does arrive.

Thanks folks for your write ups. I’ve been preparing a Business Card order for over a week & was going to get some return address labels too, but kept hesitating to hit the ‘pay’ button, as there were always little things that I felt uncomfortable with, as well as the fact that they were placing the Business card order twice, (& I couldn’t seem to delete it) and as I was going for the 2 sided printing, (didn’t want their logo on the back) the charges increased quite a bit. I’d uploaded my card front and back which were two additonal charges and then you want to have a PDF verification of how things will look, which costs more again. I noticed today that the prices have doubled from my original charges, which again made me hesitant, and the cost was now more than at Staples. I then started finding lots of complaints, and have decided NOT to order from VISTA Print at all. Thankfully I found this site and others before giving them my credit card #. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to put forth their experiences and opinions. Card size, stock, color and printing DOES matter!

I read all the comments and it all seem very strange to me! I ordered business cards, greeting cards and other products on VistaPrint and I have never been disappointed. Price are cheap but I find that the greetings card are of good quality and so are my business card. I also like to have business card+stickers with the same design.
I cannot judge their customer service, though, because I have never had the need to contact them.
As for the money, I paid the price they stated and never had any problem using my credit card (I also check my balance every month).
The only negative thing I can say is that they do send a lot of offers and mails, but I just delete them.
It is strange that you all had so many problems.
Can it be because in Europe we have a different VistaPrint company? Maybe the European one is better?
I don’t know!

Just placed an order with vistaprint today and I sure wish that I had seen these posts first!
After placing my order, I was offered a “bonus buy” purchase of 250 more business cards. I saw that it would almost double the original purchase price and decided to just close out the screen.
A few hours later I get a confirmation email telling me that I had purchased $30 worth of items from vistaprint including the “bonus buy” items.
I had not clicked on anything and if I had it sure was sneaky, because I would not have confirmed that offer.
After contacting customer service, I was told that I would be refunded the price of the “bonus buy” but that it may take up to two billing cycles to receive it back in full.
Please do not get yourself into this like I did. It’s not worth it. I’ll be going to moo next time.

I’ve had nothing but excellent results from Vista print. I’ve been using them for years.
Their prices are good and the service has been worthwhile in my opinion.
They are masters of upselling – which is a very good marketing technique. People always have the option of refusing their offers! And be careful where you click – that’s all. People need to read carefully !

Wow! I’m rather amazed at this. I’ve been a happy Vistaprint customer in Australia for several years now. I have had one order not turn up the first time (5 years ago – replacement sent FOC) and a couple of orders turn up very poorly packed, damaged and half missing. The 2nd order was a replacement for the first which arrived in this state, so I’m surprised they didn’t package it better the 2nd time, but after this, they just refunded my money in full. I don’t think I tried to call, I prefer email as then I have a record of what was said.
They can be expensive if you aren’t careful about what you are buying and any additional options, but I’ve never come to grief over this.
I’m having 2nd thoughts about using them again now…

These people get big because we support them and then they rip us off and don’t even provide a good service. They buy all their stuff from abroad (junk) and the quality is down the drain. Stop supporting them and they will come around. I personally order from WYMPRINT.com and love their quality and service. Only once I had a problem, and they resolved in no time. Those are companies I support not scammers like vistaprint. They sell your information, charge your credit card and no way to get any one to help. Read the following:
“In August, 2008, Meisleman, Denlea, Packman, Carton & Eberz, P.C. filed a class action complaint in federal court in Massachusetts on behalf of Deloris Gordon and all others similarly situated (the “Class”) alleging that Adaptive Marketing, LLC (“Adaptive”) and its parent company Vertrue, Inc. (“Vertrue”), along with VistaPrint USA, Inc. (“VistaPrint”) and its parent company VistaPrint Limited (collectively “Defendants”), are perpetrating; specifically, the practice of imposing unauthorized charges upon unsuspecting consumers who order services or merchandise from VistaPrint and whose personal and confidential credit card and bank account information is then accessed by Adaptive Marketing and Vertrue without Plaintiff’s or the Class’ prior permission.”

I’ve been told that vistaprint have been great, crap, good quality, bad quality, etc and I want to move on to a different company but none of them sell cheap T-shirts + printing! I need another company if Vistaprint is so horrible!!! Also has anyone bought any T-shirts off them? If so, were they good or bad quality e.g. were they see-through, did the ink crack, etc.

i ordered business cards in January but it wasnt clearly explained if
you put your own picture on it
its extra- not being that computer literate-i did this
and when I put my cr card details it came up for 250 at $39.00 but
too late I had already given my card details
when they came my email address was at the bottom in blue and you couldnt even see it- I then had to go somewhere and have labels madeup
to put on the back of the card with email address on it.
A few months later there was another special on and I got caught again
but this time thought I was wiser, I did the basics with no picture
but theirs and was chared $10.90 for longer delivery time, this was ok
but since then and that was in march i have checked my cr card and every month there is a 6.99charge on it, have rang bank they dont
know what can be done, except to cancel cr card and get another one,
what a bloody hassle. DONT DEAL WITH THEM EVER,wish i had known about
this website and how to check up sooner

Wow!! Thank goodness for intuition, gut feeling and this website. I very nearly got caught today … I’ve been receiving emails from them for a couple of months and was looking to order business cards. Went through all the process of choosing designs, etc. setting everything up. Then got down to the nitty gritty of the cost and found that it cost more to have a blank obverse on the card than to have advertising for Vistaprint. And a couple of other things just didn’t feel right so I didn’t put any financial details in and logged off. Then found this website.

I was sent the Vistaprint email by a friend – I thought it was a local business I was supporting. The products are all rubbish. The “small car window sign” is small alright about 6″x4″ in washed out colours. Their advertising included in the parcel in on better paper than the business cards. The “large rear window sign” wouldn’t fill a small cars passenger window. Every excuse under the sun why the shipping was delayed despite the “tracking” on the account indicating I had received the parcels. As others have said – no phone numbers, no replies to numerous emails, and yes the tried to take an extra payment from my account as well – plus I have had mysterious “bank” phone calls, NOT FROM MY BANK AS I CHECKED ever since asking me to confirm my account details – if you can RUN FAST FROM VISTA PRINT and spread the word!!!

Well I’ve tried to stay as neutral as possible with the comments letting both positive and negative through, I’m pretty sure some of the positive ones are from Vistaprint (as well as negative from competitors).
Interestingly most of the positive ones seem to blame the customer for “not being able to use a computer” which I had to chuckle at as I’m a web designer and have BUILT E-commerce shops so know a little about how to simply order a product!

VISTAPRINT do offer some very good products, especially for charities. BUT you can\’t order more than 4 items or else you pay for them, then choose the cheapest delivery possible and that, plus VAT and that will be all you\’ll pay. HOWEVER, following my dis-satisfaction with VISTAPRINT last year, THEY offered and I accepted via email, a refund of £147.20, as a \’gesture of good will\’. Needless to say, 8 months on, even with email proof of the agreed refund, and God knows how many email requests for the refund, I still don\’t have it. I now feel that they owe me compensation for waiting 8 months for a refund of my own – not our charity\’s – money, because I\’ve refused to order any more products from them until I have my refund. Unfortunately, I desperately needed to re-order some products yesterday and even THAT was totally messed up by Vistaprint and they tried to charge me for something I didn\’t order – again! The balance between products available is NOT equalled by customer care. Take my advice, stay clear of them.
Damage Resulting
I\’ve used VISTAPRINT to design many, many publicity items for the animal charity I work for. But they constantly add-on \’extra\’ items, even when you\’ve declined their inclusion. The limit of 4 items for free is written in a very small font and coloured in light grey and is therefore very difficult to see. I didn\’t spot this detail as I have a filter screen, and ran up a large bill that I\’ve paid for from my own pocket. I\’m disabled and unable to work any longer, so the callous way VISTAPRINT squeeze money out of customers is shameful, but they have no morals or principles towards helping charities, unless it\’s to con money out of you. Unfortunately, despite trying, I\’ve not yet found another company that offers similar publicity items for free, so I\’m stuck with them, still no refund and dependent on them for products to help our charity. I’m caught by a totally unscrupulous, deceptive \’company\’. DON’T TOUCH THEM.

I started researching VistaPrint scams when I noticed that after I checked out, they offerred all sorts of bonus items to order within 10 minutes. Some of these items were the same items I had just ordered, but the bonus item would have free shipping. Had I known this, I would have ordered less on my main order and tacked the bonus items on afterwards. They even had the extra large stamp with free shipping as a bonus item for the SAME price as my large stamp, and the large stamp I ordered I paid shipping on. By this logic, I should order one small item with low shipping and just click through all the bonus items with free shipping to take advantage of the system. It all seems rather fishy that they could offer so many bonus items and still make money and remain solvent, yet they don’t offer these on the main part of the website. Why not just offer these bonus items on the main website to entice me to increase my order BEFORE I finalize? Very strange. I will wait to see how this order turns out.

I dont know how you people got scammed… BUT i will check my credit card to make sure there is no extra charges… If there is i will cancel my card and get another one.. If you just take the one or two free offers like i do, then pay then order again you still get the good price works out cheaper to pay 2 lots of shipping sometimes
As for the quailty its great I had one set of cards that had a line down them which was prob my fault for the way i Uploaded it they replaced them for free

I have to say that I am staggered by the accounts of Vistaprint being a scam and no, I am not Vistaprint.I have been a customer of theirs for about 18 months and have been delighted with the quality and price of their products (most that I have ordered have been free.) I have recommended them to so many friends that I have decided to become an afilliate and profit from my recommendations. I have a page on my website advertising them from which I gain no profit at all at the moment. My only criticism of them is aimed at their Customer Service which is useless. They promise to reply to all questions within 48 hours but I usually wait 4 or 5 days for a reply. Having phoned them yesterday, freephone (yes they do give their number) I have been given a specific e-mail addy for afilliates and I wait with interest to see when I get the reply to yesterday’s e-mail.

I have been a Vista Print customer for YEARS….No, I am not an employee, just a satisfied customer. I have NEVER been scammed. In fact, today I called customer service to assist with placing my order, because the free offer link expired, even though the email offering it said it expired today.
I found customer service helpful, courteous AND when I pointed out that I should not be paying the upload fee (because once you pay you can use the image as many times as you want at no cost), I was told that they could not get it removed BUT would issue a refund. I received a confirmation email and a separate one with the refun to my card.
The most important thing, ALL items were processed as free, and when I attempted to add additional was told that why the additions would not be free.
Bottom line, I now have business cards, brochures, a pen, and car magnet all coming for free, exclusive of shipping.
I will continue to be a satisfied customer.
