Wouldn’t normally post a topic based completely on a hosting service (seriously this is from a web designer perspective, not some redundant affiliate marketer who hasn’t tried the product).
I’ve got to say I’m well impressed with JustHost so far. I’d previously been using go daddy, and I’ve used 1&1 a few times. In fact this blog is on Godaddy (will be moving when my hosting expires), and I’d been looking for a new hosting option that uses cpanel and offers better value. After quite a bit of research, I found JustHost to be on top. Usually setting ANYTHING up in godaddy is a nightmare and takes ages, so when I was setting up an e-commerce store in JustHost and everything went smoothly, I was speechless. It just works, seems fast and I haven’t had any downtime yet.
- You get your chosen domain name for life (I assume this means you own it even after not using their hosting?) for free, or at least with the hosting package.
- Unlimited webspace/email accounts / transfer /domain add-ons. Be a little wary of all these webhosts now claiming ‘unlimited’ as of course there’s no such thing. Rest assured their package does offer plenty, I run a large database driven e-commerce store and it runs prefectly quickly and haven’t run out of space.
- It’s also got all the latest requirements, MySQL/PHP 5 all updated, free ad credits etc.
- If you get it for 3 years it works out extremely cheap, (crazy not as for an extra year think it’s around £10). But it’s cheap even for a year (around £4 per month)
- A cinch to update anything, for example private SSL / dedicated IP’s
- Great 24/7 technical support (which I’ve tested out and it’s true)
- Really no reason to go with Godaddy over JustHost; just search google for ‘Godaddy problems’!!
So pretty impressed as there are so many hosting companies that offer poor service and claim so much without delivering. I’m so impressed I’ve used their advert on my page (that big one to the right).
So check them out JustHost
I will update this post if I run into any issues as only been with them for a few months now.

Unless you have a very quiet website with minimal traffic and use of bandwidth then I would run a mile from justhost
http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg174/lagerassassin/justhostjoke.gif
This is a result of using a WHOLE 17gb of bandwidth in one month, it’s been like this for 4 days and their “great” support won’t bother doing anything about it….
I wish you luck in the future, I feel you may need it, as for myself I’m off to Godaddy

lagerassassin thanks for the comment, to be honest I’ve (recently) heard both good and bad things about Justhost. I’ve used their support on my new ecommerce site (which is pretty hefty and not going to be quiet at all), and they’ve been really great. I’m on a dedicated IP, and so far had no problems, as mentioned I’ve only been with them a little while.
As for Godaddy, they are far worse, nothing but trouble from them to get everything set up. They also take part in domain price raising when you search for a domain on their website. Google them, far more complaints about godaddy than justhost. But good luck to you as well, whoever you decide to use!
In the end, you get what you pay for eh?

It should be pointed out that Just Host is a really affordable and reliable web hosting company. Despite the fact I have never tried its services I have seen a lot of good reviews left by happy customers. No questions that it is a well-recognized brand at the market.

Just a comment to your point “Really no reason to go with Godaddy over JustHost; just search google for ‘Godaddy problems’!!” This brings up a red flag in my head.
That is a pure example of evidence mining. Of course bad things will come up if you google it. Try googling ‘JustHost’ problems, and I am sure you will get similar results.
I must say I use to use godaddy, and never had problems with it, except, getting things to work, is somewhat complicated sometimes. I switched to a company called arvixed who offered so-called unlimited hosting. I fell for it, and realized that that hosting was not unlimited. Ever since I refuse to sign a contract with a company that will lie to my face about that, so recently I just switched back to godaddy, and I am happy.

Good point Michael – Godaddy have made some vast improvements. Since setting up my hosting with them a year or so ago everything now seems a lot easier. Forums used to be flooded with complaints and ‘hacks’ to get simple scripts to work with Godaddy.
As you mentioned ‘getting things to work’ should be a pretty basic requirement for hosting don’t you think?
As for the unlimited argument, I am also weary of the ‘unlimited’ promises which now dominate not only the hosting market, but also broadband and internet deals. Completely depends on your expectations for a website though. It’s all relative, you’re not going to go with a £50/month hosting plan if the site is a small local company with very low usage in the same way you wouldn’t go with a so-called ‘unlimited’ £20/year plan for a bandwidth hungry site.
